Huissen’s works investigate the relationship between space, consciousness, and the human body by utilizing his own body as a medium. As the body reflects shifting temperatures, wind, and light, the ‘self’ projects into the vast expanse of space and time within our memories. Time becomes an uninvited collaborator, shaping and coloring the memories contained within the body.
Huissen’s exploration extends from natural landscapes to urban environments, constantly seeking to understand the connection between physical sensations and the surrounding spatial context,
ultimately searching for the meaning of his existence. Drawing inspiration from Eastern philosophy, he intertwines human-made creations with the transformative forces of nature and time.
In his way of working a diverse spectrum of results appear, from small to human scale blue
prints, letters and postcards he exchanges with others, series of photograms and sculptural objects.
