Announcing Daniel Christian Saliem’s exhibition “COLD”

We are pleased to announce an exhibition COLD by Daniel Christian Saliem on December 21(Sat.) – 22(Sun.), as a result of his activity during his stay at Studio Kura.

Daniel Christian Saliemis an aspiring concept artist wanting to work in the movie/game industry in the future. Recently graduated from 3DSense Media School, Singapore specializing in Concept Art & Illustration.

During my stay at Studio Kura, I am inspired to capture the environments, and surroundings of this place through painting. Instead of using oil this time around, I am doing a digital painting based on some photos that I took while I was here.

Announcing Susan Sun’s exhibition “Mundane Solitude”

We are pleased to announce an exhibition Mundane Solitude by Susan Sun on December 21(Sat.) – 22(Sun.), as a result of her activity during her stay at Studio Kura.

Susan Sun is a freelance Illustrator and Graphic Designer based in Ontario, Canada. She completed her undergraduate in Global Business and Digital Arts (June 2017), then continued her studies at 3D Sense Media School, Singapore, specializing in Concept Design and Illustration ( December 2019).

When looking at the local landscapes, I have this feeling of fading away and viewing the world as an even-handed bystander. I wanted to capture this feeling of isolation within my work using surreal elements of wondering spirits.

Daniel Christian Saliem (Indonesia) Residence: December 2019

Daniel Christian Saliem is an aspiring concept artist wanting to work in the movie/game industry in the future. Recently graduated from 3DSense Media School, Singapore specializing in Concept Art & Illustration.

He is interested in doing keyframes, and concept designs for characters, creatures, vehicles, and props.

During his stay, Daniel is going to explore more of the country's culture, environments, and architecture to earn more inspiration for his artworks.

Susan Sun

Susan Sun (Canada) Residence: December 2019

Susan Sun is a freelance Illustrator and Graphic Designer based in Ontario, Canada. She completed her undergraduate in Global Business and Digital Arts (June 2017), then continued her studies at 3D Sense Media School, Singapore, specializing in Concept Design and Illustration ( December 2019).

She is keen on exploring both traditional and digital mediums in her works, taking any opportunity she can to combine mediums. Her main pursuit in this industry is to tell narrative stories through her work, either in the form of games, storyboards, illustrations, or comics. She is still exploring her style and plans to expand her skill set by exploring different fields of work in the future.

During her residency, the artist aims to explore the serene environment of the countryside to create a narrative piece.

Announcing Virginie Eudeline’s exhibition “Mei-chan in Fukuoka-land”

We are pleased to announce an exhibition Mei-chan in Fukuoka-land by Virginie Eudeline on November 23(Sat.) – 24(Sun.), as a result of her activity during her stay at Studio Kura.

Virginie Eudeline is a french artist living in Singapore. She graduated from 3D Sense Media School, Singapore, specializing in Concept Design and Illustration, in March 2019. After that, she was selected with other students to make a 3D animated short film (coming end of 2019), where she worked as a story artist and concept artist, and also explored the art of animation.
Her art interest is motivated by story telling, especially for children, whether making concept art or drawing illustration, or even better, storyboarding.

I would like to share my experience in studio Kura and Fukuoka in general through some illustrations. As I like to tell stories in my drawings, I created this little girl called Mei who is having fun in ‘Fukuoka-land’, hence the imaginative world where she belongs to.

Announcing Davin Saputra’s Exhibition “Figure in Filaments”

We are pleased to announce an exhibition Figure in Filaments by Davin Saputra on September 22 (Sat) to 24 (Mon), as a result of his activity during his stay at Studio Kura.

Davin Saputra is a 3d Artist from Indonesia, who will be working as a junior 3d character modeler in the games industry after his stay here. He had just graduated from 3dsense Media School, Singapore.
He is interested in creating character art which includes figure sculpting, portraiture, and anatomy studies. He is currently trying to improve his fundamentals on those subjects.

Here are some words from the artist himself.

In this exhibition i want to show some of my studies of figure sculpting as well as my results from my first time using a 3d printer.

I will also present some of my process in creating some of my sculpt from the sketch, final sculpt, slicing the mesh, and printing it. As 3d prints usually take a long time to print, i might not print every single sculpture that I did, however i will still show some of my figure studies in my exhibition.

Davin Saputra

Davin Saputra (Indonesia) Residence: September 2018

Davin is a 3d Artist from Indonesia, who will be working as a junior 3d character modeler in the games industry after his stay here. He had just graduated from 3dsense Media School, Singapore.

He is interested in creating character art which includes figure sculpting, portraiture, and anatomy studies. He is currently trying to improve his fundamentals on those subjects.

During his stay in Studio Kura, he wants to focus on improving his figure sculpting and portraiture skills. Also there’s a really cool 3d printer that he really wants to take advantage of during his one month stay.

Warren Goh

Warren Goh (Singapore) Residency: May 2018

Warren Goh Yu Xian is an illustrator from Singapore.

He has completed his WSQ Diploma at 3dsense Media School in 2017, finishing the Digital Design and Illustration course as the recipient of the Top Student Award. He has been nominated for the Live Draft by the judging panel of the Rookies competition, one of the highest honours for young upcoming talent in the field of Entertainment Design. He has since been employed as a Concept Artist at Mighty Jaxx Intl.

During his stay at Studio Kura, he will be creating a series of work using watercolour and ink. He has an inclination towards painting the fantastical, and watercolour is a medium that he feels suitably captures the magical atmosphere of the Itoshima countryside.
