オランダ出身のビジュアルアーティスト、ジャネット・オッターは、Studio Tiny Pieces（”studiotinypieces”）として世界中から集めた海洋プラスチックを力強いコラージュや彫刻へと昇華させています。彼女の作品は海のいのちを讃えると同時に、廃棄物に刻まれた隠れた物語を掘り起こし、私たちと物質世界との関係を問いかけるテクスチャー豊かなアートを生み出します。
Studio Kura での滞在中、ジャネットはボブ・コルポラール（”late_night_noodles”）とともに “connectingtides” プロジェクトに取り組みます。ふたりは浜辺で漂着した海洋プラスチックごみを収集・分類し、ボブのデータ可視化のために情報を抽出。ジャネットは集めたごみを素材に立体作品を制作し、それをボブの写真やジェネレーティブ・アートと融合させます。フィジカルとデジタルを橋渡しするこのインスタレーションは、海流が海洋生物と人間の廃棄物をどのように世界中へ運んでいるかを可視化し、私たちの地球規模のつながりに光を当てます。
Janet Otter is a visual artist from the Netherlands who transforms marine plastic debris from all over the world into powerful collages and sculptures as Studio Tiny Pieces (“studiotinypieces”). Her work celebrates marine life while revealing the hidden stories embedded in discarded materials, creating textured art that sparks conversations about ocean conservation and our relationship with the material world.
At Studio Kura, she’s collaborating with Bob Corporaal (“late_night_noodles”) on the “connectingtides” project. Working alongside Bob, she will gather marine plastic waste from beaches and shorelines, organize and categorize the findings, and help extract data for Bob’s visualizations. Her focus will be to create physical sculptures from the collected waste, which will be combined with Bob’s photographs and generative visualizations to form a comprehensive installation. Through Connecting Tides, they bridge the physical and digital realms to illuminate how ocean currents carry both marine life and human waste across our interconnected world.
