We are pleased to announce an exhibition Before, again everything vanishes. by Justin Seiji Waddell on November 23(Sat.) – 24(Sun.), as a result of his activity during his stay at Studio Kura.
Justin Seiji Waddell graduated from the Ontario College of Art and Design and received his MFA from the University of Windsor. He has previously served as the Director of Programming at YYZ Artists’ Outlet, the Director of the Stride Art Gallery Association, and as a Board Member of various Artist-Run Centres including Truck Gallery, The New Gallery, and the Calgary Cinematheque. His work and writing have been presented within artist-run centres, public galleries, festivals, and private project spaces. Waddell lives in Calgary, Alberta where he is an Associate Professor in the School of Visual Art at the Alberta University of the Arts.
Several floor works in the exhibition consist of found and hand-formed objects arranged on natural dyed linens.
The articles range from local sea shells to homemade plasticine sculptures and are intended as a manifest of things; an account of what we can acknowledge, identify, and appreciate.
