JP Neang (United States) Residence: October 2019
JP Neang is an Artist and Creative Educator from San Francisco, CA and has been a returning resident artist at Studio Kura since 2017. She completed her Bachelors of Arts in Painting and Drawing at California State University of Sacramento. Her work has been shown in contemporary and urban galleries from New York, San Francisco, Los Angeles, France, Peru, and Japan.
JP is also a Creative Educator with over 10 years of experience in developing innovative programming in children’s arts and sciences. She has worked on educational programming at San Francisco’s finest institutions such as The DeYoung, Palace of Fine Arts and The Children’s Creativity Museum. She has also extended her personal programs and workshops overseas as a guest professor in Guinea, Africa, Huaycán Peru, and Rajasthan India.
At Studio Kura, she would like to create playful works devoid of color that build upon childhood stories from both Japanese and American cultures.
