Announcing Lilly Buttrose’s Exhibition “Mountain topography (waves)”

We are happy to announce an exhibition Mountain topography (waves) by Lilly Buttrose, as a result of her activity during her stay at Studio Kura. This will be shown as a part of Itoshima International Art Festival 2016, Itoshima Arts Farm.

Lilly Buttrose is an emerging artist currently working out of her studio in JamFactory, Adelaide, South Australia. Specialising in textiles, Buttrose finished her Bachelor of Visual Arts in 2014 and has since expanded her skills through industry opportunities and exhibited throughout South Australia. Having completed two Adelaide residencies, Studio Kura, Japan 2016 will be her first international residency where she will develop new work.

Here are some words from the artist herself.

During this residency I wanted to focus on a small imprint in the landscape and create a sort of mapping of the area. When I arrived on the beach I found the waves left impressions on the sand that mimicked the mountains which face the ocean. All I had to do was simply redraw this action.
