Announcing Shuwen Xu’s Exhibition “CONTAINER”

We are pleased to announce an exhibition CONTAINER by Shuwen Xu on June 24 (Sat) and 25 (Sun), as a result of her activity during her stay at Studio Kura.

Shuwen Xu is a visual artist and spatial designer based in China and USA. She grew in Wuhan, China and got the Bachelor Degree of Architecture at Southeast University in Nanjing, China.
Currently she is earning her Master Degree of Landscape Architecture and Art History in Rhode Island School of Design in Providence, USA.
Besides her educational background of spatial design, she kept exploring diverse art fields and media like drawing, painting, printmaking, photography, installation, film, traditional calligraphy, etc. Meanwhile, art theoretical study and art practice always helps mutually.

Here are some words from the artist herself.

The room, or where I live is like a container for me — the container of objects, behavior, perception, emotion, thoughts and dreams. Through this period of residency, which throws me into an unfamiliar environment, I want to explore how the relationships between me and the surroundings are established gradually from different aspects.

Date: June 24 (Saturday) and 25 (Sunday), 11:00 to 18:00, free entrance
* We will hold an exhibition party and an artist talk on Saturday the 24th, starting at 15:00.
* The exhibitions by other current residence artists, will be also held on the same dates.
