Announcing Si Ying Wong ‘s Exhibition “Unplug”

We are pleased to announce an exhibition Unplug by Si Ying Wong on November 25 (Saturday) & 26 (Sun), as a result of her activity during her stay at Studio Kura.

Si Ying is an art and design educator cum motion artist based in Malaysia. She completed her Bachelor Degree of Film and Animation from Creative Multimedia in Multimedia University in 2008. She then pursues her career as a motion designer. Aside from that, she works as an art and design educator in a drawing studio and college.
She is interested in observing every tiny detail in her life, the environment, every moment she experience, and every person around her. She believes in the state of observation, she will be able to feel more than what she used to see around her.

Here are some words from the artist herself.

Staying alongside Karatsu Highway, I’ve seen endless stream of cars, trucks and bikes sweeping by without ever back and around. It’s like an epitome of our everyday repetitive hectic life. We move forward briskly day-to-day, consciousness of being present in the moment that we are living dies off gradually.

“Unplug” is snippets of the moments that are happening but missed out by us. Take few minutes every day to focus on our senses, we can practice being in the present. “Unplug” is my window to “be present” along Karatsu Highway.

Slow down; embrace being present.
