Announcing Yuchen Xin’s exhibition “Our bodies give up the ghosts”

We are pleased to announce an exhibition “Our bodies give up the ghosts” by Yuchen Xin on January 25(Sat.) & 26(Sun.), as a result of her activity during her stay at Studio Kura.

Yuchen Xin was born in Shanghai and now she works and lives in Melbourne. She completed her BFA (2019) in expanded studio practice (painting, drawing, video) at RMIT University in Melbourne. Her artistic practice explores the ideas relating to self-awareness, human conditions, and unconscious self-expression through various mediums including mixed media hand-formed objects, painting, video, ceramics, and digital work.

“I can feel the nerve
of this tooth
pulsing under
the gum.
Something is not right.
We grow old.
Our teeth give up
the ghost. Pain
floods our bodies
at every quarter;
some of it you can
pull out with pliers.
The rest of it’s
in too deep.”
— Glenn W. Cooper’s “Too Deep” (2007) from Some Natural Things.
