We are pleased to announce an exhibition by Kalina Winska on December 21(Sat.) – 22(Sun.) at Studio Kura.
Kalina Winska, based in South Georgia, USA, works mostly in mixed media drawing. She completed her MFA in Studio Art degrees in Poland, from The Eugeniusz Geppert Academy of Art and Design in Wroclaw, and in US, from University of Florida in Gainesville, FL. She has exhibited in several art venues across the US, in Poland, Germany, and Canada.
My artworks are my playful musings on the insufficiency of data obtained from the satellite and weather rather imagery. The works are all hand painted and drawn. The characteristic shapes of clouds are created through labor intensive mark making that involves chemical formulas for greenhouse gases repeated over and over. My works then become metaphoric reflections on our desire to minimize the effects of weather and, on a larger scale, of global warming through human prediction, and the futility of human intervention.
