Andrea has worked with textiles from a very young age as a embroiderer and dressmaker of children’s clothes and as a proprietor of a successful business Bittern by the Bug for the last 20 years in Melbourne.
Over the years she has added to her skills with teaching a creative approach to classic and Japanese embroidery, encouraging individuality and originality in her students work.
Her love of Japan has brought her to Kyushu and Studio Kura to dedicate more time to exploring manipulation of fabrics and their ability to change form and function.
Also exploring her British heritage she hopes to share her love of classical country embroidery from rural Somerset which has parallels to classic Japanese traditions of stitching.
