Announcing Stephen Cooney’s Exhibition “A Figurative Process”

We are pleased to announce an exhibition A Figurative Process by Stephen Cooney on March 24 (Saturday) & 25 (Sun), as a result of his activity during his stay at Studio Kura.

Stephen Cooney is an interdisciplinary artist with an interest for merging classical concepts of image-making with contemporary/commercial methods of production.
His experience is rooted in content creation for entertainment media, however in recent years he has come to a new practice–figurative art.

Here are some words from the artist himself.

I will display my learning process for developing personal approaches to rendering the human form in charcoal. There will be an array of pieces–experiments–looking at various parts of the human form, and variant methods for rendering the form. Overall, my own style fits into a realist approach to figurative art, with a bias towards expression of physical energy.
