We are pleased to announce an open studio to see Izaro Ieregi’s studio practice on July 26 (Thu) to 28 (Sat), as a result of her activity during her stay at Studio Kura.
Izaro Ieregi (Algorta, 1987). Graduated from the Faculty of Fine Arts of the UPV-EHU (2010), she has carried out individual exhibitions at the Tower House of Ariz, Basauri (2017), C.C. San Martin, Buenos Aires (2017) and the Chinese European Art Centre, Xiamen (2017). She is a founding partner of the OKELA space with headquarters in Bilbao.

I start with a work method that goes through a framework of violence with the idea of transfiguring it by recording a performance activity. By using activities registered in archives and making use of a score and devices that enable us to contort our body and distort our voice. Recording a new event. An exercise of form. Performative repetition.

*Izaro Ieregi is a selected artist of the residency award “ERTIBIL 2018”, a residency award to participate in Studio Kura artist-in residence program, associated with the Cultural Department of Bizkaia Regional Government.
* We will hold an exhibition and open studio closing party and an artist talk on 28th (Sat), starting at 15:30.
* The exhibitions by other current residence artists will be also held on the same dates.
