We are pleased to announce an exhibition Fukt / 湿度 / Moist by Aurora Solberg on October 20 (Sat), 21 (Sun) and 27 (Sat), 28 (Sun), as a result of her activity during her stay at Studio Kura. This will be shown as a part of Itoshima International Art Festival 2018, Itoshima Arts Farm.
Aurora Solberg is an artist based in Bergen, Norway. She specializes in painting, and completed her masters in Fine Art from the Art Academy/ University in Bergen in 2017, and her bachelor from Trondheim Art Academy in 2013. Her work has been shown several places in Norway.
Painting, both its material and techniques, are the starting point in Auroras practice. She explores the materials and media used in different types of painting, while exploring her own interaction with the materials. In recent years, she has focused on watercolour painting.
Here are some words from the artist herself.
Moisture generally means water bound in a material or water vapor in air. Moisture is of great importance for how all materials shape themselves and changes over time, and this include the watercolor medium. Being in the moist and warm weather in Japan, I observe how the materials behave differently than in dry and cold Norway. But even more so the surroundings transforms me and the way I paint – everything I experience inspires the atmosphere and colors of the works.
