Studio Kuraでは、彼女の滞在制作発表「Uncomfortable Comfort」を開催いたします。Saskia Martindale（イギリス出身）は、オブジェ、小道具、セットのデザイナーであり、メーカーです。彼女の作品は、ユーモラスで遊び心にあふれ、明るい色や面白い質感に焦点を当てる傾向があります。また、日用品を再利用したり、拾った物を用いることで、新たな用途を見出すことも楽しんでいます。彼女は、自分の仕事に対して深刻に考えすぎず、常にデザインプロセスを楽しみながら、さまざまなテクニックを探求することで、自分自身を飽きさせないようにしています。
今回の展覧会では、彼女が滞在期間中に制作した絵画作品を展示いたします。展示作品は、異なる場所でありながら非常に慣れ親しんだ場所にいることの快適さと不快さを同時に感じさせるものとなっています。 入場料は無料で、開催日時は2月25日（土）、26日（日）の11:00から17:00までです。また、25日（土）14:30よりアーティストトークも行われますので、ぜひこの機会にお越しください。 なお、展覧会の会場は福岡県糸島市二丈松末586にございます。お見逃しなく！
We are pleased to announce the exhibition “Uncomfortable Comfort” by Saskia Martindale, a designer and maker of objects, props, and sets from the UK, at Studio Kura. Her works are characterized by their humorous and playful nature, often emphasizing bright colors and interesting textures. She also enjoys repurposing everyday items and incorporating found objects into her creations to discover new possibilities. Rather than taking her work too seriously, she always enjoys exploring different techniques in the design process to keep herself from becoming bored.
For this exhibition, Martindale will be showcasing a series of paintings that she created during her residency, inspired by certain objects she encountered in Japan and made using unusual materials. Her works will evoke both a sense of comfort and discomfort in familiar yet different places.
Admission to the exhibition is free, and it will be held on February 25th and 26th from 11:00 am to 5:00 pm. In addition, an artist talk will be held on February 25th at 2:30 pm. Don’t miss this opportunity to see her works in person!
