Announcing Didi Lehnhausen’s Exhibition “For reasons yet unknown”

We are pleased to announce an exhibition For reasons yet unknown by Didi Lehnhausen on February 24 (Saturday) & 25 (Sun), as a result of her activity during her stay at Studio Kura.

Didi Lehnhausen graduated from the Gerrit Rietveld Academy in 2016 and won the Fine Arts award for the best graduate. Since then she has been working from her atelier in Amsterdam with regular residencies and trips to Germany and Indonesia. Her work has been exhibited in these countries and most recently at the NEU/NOW festival in Amsterdam.

In her work she explores the qualities of the medium photography by applying different printing techniques and decomposing and rebuilding images. With camera’s and different printing technique’s she forms the material into prints, films and performances.

Here are some words from the artist herself.

“For reasons yet unknown” is an installation of different prints and objects. Everything on display is used as props for a film that is still in production. The filmscript is written over the 28 days of February during the stay at studio Kura.

“It’s better to sleep at night, is what is taught. Isn’t that just because we are scared of anything we can’t see? The only place from where I can make things is darkness. There where nothing is, anything can become. The colors are not yet, because the light didn’t fall upon them. The forms don’t feel, because their shadow is not shun.”
