Announcing Candace Pritchard’s exhibition “engawa”

We are pleased to announce an exhibition engawa by Candace Pritchard on November 23(Sat.) – 24(Sun.), as a result of her activity during her stay at Studio Kura.

Candace Pritchard is from a rural town on Vancouver Island British Columbia, Canada.
After raising a family and retiring from her career Candace completed a Fine Arts diploma program in 2009. Since then she has taken textile related workshops including a 2 week session in Japan in 2016. The history and cultural aesthetics of cloth, rope and paper uses are her areas of interest. She participates in community art and eco fashion events.

Engawa is the inside – outside part of traditional japanese architecture, a protected place open to the elements, a relaxing place to sit and contemplate the garden and world around you.
While at Studio Kura I have no bold statement to make, just possibly some peaceful expressions created from the world around me.
