ローラ・ジーンは、カナダのプリンスエドワード郡ピクトンに住む、さまざまな分野で活動するアーティストです。彼女は2012年にオタワ大学の美術学士（BFA）プログラムを卒業しました。プロとしては副料理長として働き、週の大半をキッチンで過ごしていますが、仕事以外の時間は主に絵を描いたり、音楽を作ったりすることに費やしています。計画を立てずに絵を描き始めることが多く、物語が自然に形成されていきます。明るい色彩と動きのある筆使いで、彼女の作品は現実と非現実の境界に位置します。彼女の作品は、命や死についての思索を映し出しており、このテーマは彼女の音楽制作にも一貫して現れています。
Laura Jean is a multidisciplinary artist currently residing in Picton, Prince Edward County, Canada. She graduated in 2012 from the BFA program at Ottawa University.
While professionally she works as a sous-chef and spends most of the week in the kitchen, her time away from work is largely reserved for other forms of creation; namely painting and writing music.
Often starting a painting without a plan, a narrative will begin to develop organically. With a bright palette and frenetic brushstrokes, the image arrives at a liminal place between the real and the surreal. Her works are reflective of contemplations on mortality, a theme that has also been steadfast in her songwriting.
